Dr. Pleasants coordinates the Parent Leadership Academy and the Our Voices, Our Lives Program at the University of Alabama. Dr. Pleasants is an experienced qualitative researcher; her scholarship focuses on issues of voice, leadership, literacy and identity, particularly as these are connected to the lives and experiences of individuals who have been historically marginalized. Two questions that continue to inspire her are "How do identities move through literacies and technologies? and What are we able to accomplish in our movements in and through different kinds of social spaces?
