One month away

Hello THATCampers,

THATCamp Alabama 2013 is a month away! We’ve been busy preparing for your arrival and have some news to share.

First, the location of THATCamp Alabama has changed from the Ferguson Center to Gordon Palmer Hall. All activities, other than the reception and informal gathering on Friday, will take place in Gordon Palmer. Additional information about the location, including parking, is available on the Travel page of the THATCamp Alabama website.

Next, a limited number of first-generation iPads and laptop computers are available for use by THATCamp Alabama attendees, courtesy of UA’s College of Arts and Sciences Office of Educational Technology (eTech). If you would like to borrow an iPad 1 or a laptop, please let us know before Monday, July 15. Please indicate which you would prefer to borrow if available: iPad 1 only, laptop only, or either device.

Also, the Hotel Capstone is giving THATCampers until the end of TODAY to book a room at the discounted rate. We also have a block at the Holiday Inn Express, where you’ll need to book your room by July 20th to receive the discount. Information about the discount rates is available on the Travel page of the THATCamp Alabama website.

If you haven’t done so, please log in and fill out your user profile (log in, then select Dashboard & Profile or, after logging in, go directly to alabama2013.thatcamp.org/wp-admin/profile.php. If nothing else, please add your name; it will help fill in the blanks on the Campers page.

Finally, we are still accepting registrations for the wait list. There have already been a few cancellations, and we anticipate some more as the event approached. Please encourage interested friends and colleagues to sign up, as there’s a good chance several folks on the wait list will have the opportunity to attend. On a related note, if plans change and you can no longer make it to THATCamp Alabama, please let us know so we may offer your spot to someone on the wait list.

That’s all for now! Please do let us know if you have any questions as the event approaches.
